Grace Period Registration and Voting allows individuals who missed the deadline for registration to register or change their name or address on their registration and cast a grace period ballot. Applicants for grace period registrations must provide proof of residency and identity when applying. For information regarding what types of documentation are accepted as proofs please call the Clerk’s Office at 217-824-4969. Grace registration is only offered at the County Clerk’s Office and must be done in person. Grace registrants may qualify for a full ballot and they will vote while they are at the Clerk’s Office. Grace Ballots are cast at the County Clerk’s office and those votes are tabulated after the closing of the polls on Election Day. Grace period registration and voting begins the first day after close of regular voter registration (27th day prior to the Election) and ends on Election Day.
